The plantation mainly focused on ecologically appropriate species keeping in mind the urban intrusion around Aundh open meadows.
The focussed species was Saptaparni (Alstonia scholaris) commonly called blackboard tree or devil's tree in English, is an evergreen tropical tree in the family Apocynaceae. It is native to southern China, tropical Asia (mainly Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia) and Australasia, it is a commonly planted ornamental plant in these areas.
Oakwood Hills society falls on the foothills of the Baner tekdi. Given the grazing lands in the neighbourhood, the plantation was focussed on planting saplings where usually the leaves are born on the crown of the trees.
100 saplings data was collected. The focussed attributes were GPS location, species name, pictures of leaf and sapling profile, rough height.
